Info about Ancient Appian way
The Appian Way is a Roman road that connected Rome to Brundisium (Brindisi), one of the most important ports of ancient Italy, from which departed the trade routes to Greece and the East. The Appia, regarded by the Romans regina viarum (queen of roads), is universally considered one of the great engineering works of the ancient world, and in consideration of the period in which it was made early (end of IV – III century BC.) , both for the huge economic impact, military and cultural it has had on the Roman society.
Large stretches of the road, especially in the suburbs of the city of Rome, are still well preserved and viable destination for archaeological tourism.
